papilio_luna requested to see my shoes:

kalleah requested a favorite piece of jewelry:

I don't wear jewelry very often these days, since I've had "business casual" jobs since 2000. I think I've worn a suit maybe 3 times in nine years, and in fact gave all my suits bar one winter suit, one summer suit, and one old favorite to Dress For Success a few years ago.

But I still have the jewelry.

The pin and necklace below came from a little shop in a timber-framed building on a cobblestone street in Norwich, England, many years ago. The design of the pin is from an illuminated manuscript. The necklace is mother-of-pearl with what I thought were gold beads but have been revealed over the years to be merely plastic. I still love it.

My mother lived and taught school in Egypt, during the fifties, and traveled the Middle East. The Jerusalem cross necklace is from Jerusalem. The pin I don't know the origins of, but I do know that my mother gave it to a friend of the family when she returned from Egypt. Many years later, the friend sent it back to my mother when she heard she'd had a daughter, with instructions to give it to her when she grew up. That daughter was me.

This pin is late Victorian, probably originally British, silver with Scottish agate. It's not an heirloom: I bought it on impulse at an antique store when I was killing time one afternoon in Georgetown, Washington DC. I always wanted an arrow pin.

This is the [Cat] Memorial Locket. It will have his picture as soon as I get around to buying a photo-quality printer. I don't wear it all the time, just sometimes.

This is actually the best picture I could get of these rings. I tried several different times, with flash and without, trying to get a picture that would show the stones. These are the rings I'm hoping to replace with rings from this vendor, discussed here. I used to wear these, but they never fit right, and now don't fit at all.
