Sixteen Things Meme

Borrowed from bouncy_castle79:

  1. I used the program ljArchive today, prompted by a post by jlrpuck. That's a nice little program. I wish I'd written it!
  2. We are calling the crud that's going around the office the Black Death. The biology PhD on our team said he had all the symptoms but the buboes.
  3. I like the icon I'm using. I think it's from the Season 2 video diaries. We'll probably never see Tennant this natural and open again, sad to say.
  4. I wish LJ had a "save draft" feature.
  5. I left for Chicago TARDIS just after an extended family Thanksgiving. Everybody kept referring to it as a "conference" I was going to. Eventually I started doing it, too. It did have a very professional sounding ring to it!
  6. I still haven't put my living room back together after my New Year's party. You wouldn't think three people could consume that much food or make that much mess. But it was a lot of fun.
  7. I now have a lot of leftover liquor after the New Year's party. Yes, I know that's an oxymoron. But I don't drink, except for a little wine, and I have all these barely-opened bottles. Good thing liquor doesn't go off.
  8. Matt Smith looks a lot like someone who semi-sorta-broke my heart not too long ago. But I'll give him a chance to win me over.
  9. I have fallen in love with Annie Chun's noodle bowls, which cost $1.99 at Trader Joe's and $3.49 everywhere else. Very tasty. I wish I knew how to make the broth from the Udon noodle bowl: I think it has mushrooms and miso in it, but that's all I can tell.
  10. I slid my car into a pillar in my parking garage back on Dec 19, and finally got a quote on it. Strewth. It'll cost my insurance company $1,836 if they do everything with official parts, etc.
  11. I've never seen Christopher Eccleston in anything but Doctor Who. I've heard he's good in Elizabeth.
  12. I wish there was a tea shop like the one earlgreytea68 describes Brem and Kate patronizing somewhere near me!
  13. I gave my old car to St. Vincent de Paul, and it sold at auction for $600. Cool!
  14. Bought a new Palm Pilot. I think I like my old one better, though.
  15. Am envious of papilio_luna's trip to London. No reason I couldn't take one myself, of course, other than the need to arrange cat care.
  16. Need a slightly-challenging book to read at bedtime, to make me feel like I've accomplished something in a day. I was reading Virginia Woolf's Common Reader recently, but I finished it. This is the one respect in which I remain an English major.

Sadly, I have never found a tea shop quite like Tealuxe. I've found other tea shops, of course. But none like Tealuxe. You can order their teas online and *pretend,* though, I suppose!

But I want to taste them. I want to sample and compare and develop a personal favorite!

*sigh* I should probably look harder for tea shops in Cincinnati. There are bound to be some.

I usually trust LJ to save my drafts when I navigate away from the entry-posting page, but if I'm particularly concerned I'll post it as a private entry. (I also often compose entries in my email client and post them later.) Okay, not exactly as neat as a proper draft-saving feature.

I've done that, with the private entry, but a draft-saving feature would be nice. I hadn't thought of composing entries in some other software and then posting them; that's a good idea.

2. *snicker* That's awesome--so long as you don't have the mortality rate to go along with it.
4. I'm with platypus on this one.

11. He is just *delicious* in Elizabeth. He makes evil very, very sexy indeed, and he even works the posh accent.

I'm going to have to see it, then!

Am I imagining things from little bits of interview footage, or is the Ninth Doctor's accent not quite the same as his real accent?

I'm tempted to say it's not as thick (relatively speaking), but I fear this is a question which will require proper research to answer. Loads and loads of proper research. ;)

I should ask sensiblecat -- she's from Lancashire, I think. She could probably tell me what the difference is.
