Fifty Questions meme

Stolen from earlgreytea68 .

1. When you looked at yourself in the mirror today, what was the first thing you thought?

"Could be worse."

2. How much cash do you have on you?

About $50. I was at the ATM recently.

3. What’s a word that rhymes with DOOR?

Poor.

4. Favorite planet?

This one is quite nice.

5. Who is the 4th person on your missed call list on your cell phone?

My HR manager.

6. What is your favorite ring tone on your phone?

I only have one:  it's a Vivaldi mandolin concerto, but because my phone has minimal audio features it sounds like some kind of alarm.

7. What shirt are you wearing?

A brown T-shirt, of the slightly fancy self-bound scoopneck type.

8. Do you label yourself?

I'm not sure what this means, but "girl coder", "technical writer", "ex-punk", and "art and culture hanger-on" are all ways I categorize myself.

9. Name the brand of the shoes you’re currently wearing?

I think it's Easy Spirit.  Something that advertises comfort and rather surprisingly really is comfortable.

10. Bright or Dark Room?

Bright.

11. What do you think about the person who took this survey before you?

She's charming and gracious, an excellent writer, and a very supportive friend.

12. What does your watch look like?

I don't have one anymore.  I had a nice tank watch, but the band got caught on something one morning in the parking garage and it came off.  By the time I realized it was gone, it had been run over and was dead.

13. What were you doing at midnight last night?

I'd just put a book aside and turned off the lights.

14. What did your last text message you received on your cell say?

Something odd about music history.  My sister texts me things she finds interesting in her research.

15. Where is your nearest 7-11?

Columbus, Ohio.

16. What's a word that you say a lot?

Interesting!

17. Who told you he/she loved you last?

My friend S.

18. Last furry thing you touched?

My cat.

19. How many drugs have you done in the last three days?

Illegal?  None.  Prescribed?  Quite a lot.

20. How many rolls of film do you need developed?

I think there's one hanging around from years ago.  Probably will never be developed.

21. Favorite age you have been so far?

I think 30 was pretty good.  I had a job I liked, was actively socializing, had started writing technical articles.

22. Your worst enemy?

Perfectionism.

23. What is your current desktop picture?

The generic green hill that came with WIndows Xp.

24. What was the last thing you said to someone?

"Merry Christmas!" in reply to a staffer at the vet clinic.

25. If you had to choose between a million bucks or to be able to fly what would it be?

The million dollars, although I feel like a lesser person for saying so.

26. Do you like someone?

Nobody available.

27. The last song you listened to?

"I Get A Kick Out Of You", by Cole Porter, sung by Ella Fitzgerald.

28. What time of day were you born?

Just after midnight.  My mother says that if the doctor hadn't stepped out for a cigarette, I would have been born the day before.

29. What’s your favorite number?

1024.  Also 3.

30. Where did you live in 1987?

University City, St. Louis, Missouri.

31. Are you jealous of anyone?

Quite a lot of people.  I repeat the "comparing your inside to their outside" meme quite a lot.

32. Is anyone jealous of you?

Quite possibly.

33. Where were you when 9/11 happened?

Crossing the Ohio river en route to work, for which I was already late.

34. What do you do when vending machines steal your money?

Push at the machine impotently.  If it's a work vending machine and there's a little form to fill out to get a refund, I fill it out.

35. Do you consider yourself kind?

Yes.

36. If you had to get a tattoo, where would it be?

Somewhere it couldn't normally be seen, like the bottom of my foot.

37. If you could be fluent in any other language, what would it be?

Ooh.  Mandarin or Cantonese would probably be most likely to be practical, but I'm a musician, so I'll pick Italian.

38. Would you move for the person you loved?

I moved overseas for love, once.  It wasn't a success.  But that was long ago, and I think I would consider doing it again over a lesser distance.

39. Are you touchy feely?

No, although I will occasionally surprise people with hugs.

40. What’s your life motto?

"Any landing you can walk away from is a good one".

41. Name three things that you have on you at all times?

If "in my purse" counts as "on me", then my Palm Pilot, some ibuprofen, and my keys.  Also, I always wear a gold chain necklace.

42. What’s your favourite town/city?

It used to be London, but I haven't been there in years.  Chicago, maybe.

43. What was the last thing you paid for with cash?

A tiny carton of milk at the coffee shop in my building.

44. When was the last time you wrote a letter to someone on paper and mailed it?

If "printing out a letter" counts as "writing a letter on paper", then it was a request for a refund from a medical equipment company I'd overpaid.  If it has to be a handwritten letter, then the condolence letter I wrote my aunt when my grandmother died in 2005.

45. Can you change the oil on a car?

Nope.  I can take out and put in a battery, though.

46. Your first love: what is the last thing you heard about him/her?

My very first love goes back to first grade.  The last I heard was that he was going to graduate school in mathematics.

47. How far back do you know about your ancestry?

On my mother's side, to the 17th century.  On my father's side, only to my grandparents.  Apparently my grandfather never talked about his background; the few things we know are what part of Poland he came from, that his father played the violin, and that he apparently ran away from home at a young age.

48. The last time you dressed fancy, what did you wear and why did you dress fancy?

I wore a black jersey top and long skirt and a maroon velvet jacket.  It was for our company holiday dinner.

49. Does anything hurt on your body right now?

My forehead.  I have a sinus infection.

50. Have you been burned by love?

Oh, yes.
