The cat was squirmy tonight, and the needle came loose without my realizing it. His right side got soaked. Now he's refusing to cooperate (and who can blame him) but he only got a few milliliters of fluid!

It's nearly 11 o'clock and I need to go to bed. I guess I'll try to dose him in the morning. I don't know what else to do. He's not going to be calm and happy again until he dries off.

Too late for any advice ... how did it go?

how did it go?

The next day I was sick, and he was squirmy. Over the course of the morning I tried to dose him several times and managed to get a little fluid in him. Come evening, he was fairly cooperative, and then something spooked him -- I think it was voices outside in the hallway -- and he did his best to bolt. We wound up wrestling for a while.

Ultimately I think he received less fluid than he should have, but hopefully this squirminess won't persist. He's taken to climbing up from my lap while he's being dosed and resting against me like a sleeping toddler, paws on my shoulder. This is fine until he decides he wants to climb farther and actually stand on my shoulder. At that point I lose my grip on him, and the needle pulls out, leading to damp fur and further restlessness. It also kind of hurts!
