Year end meditation

I have bought party food; I have bought sparkling white wine (I'm not a purist); I have nowt to do but vacuum before my "party" (3 people) and that's not until 8 or 9. 6 or 7 at a pinch.

So I can relax. At last. For the first time since December 20, or earlier since I was hardly relaxed when I was working.

I think I will putter. Read books, perhaps read some fic, perhaps write a little, and putter.

Thanks and love for all your help and support in 2013. And may 2014 be a great year for us all.

How nice that you're having a get-together, no matter how small. It's just us tonight, and we'll likely be in bed by 12:15.

Sounds cozy! I have one person who said "I'll be there in a few" but is at least 90 minutes away, and another who refused to tell me when she might arrive. So I don't know when this party is likely to get started.

Might as well watch the Doctor Who Christmas Special by myself since who knows when people will be here!

Puttering sounds like an excellent way to spend the day. Happy new year!

It was fun! My final steps were doing a bit of housekeeping and putting out a bowl of chips.

Being on the Western edge of EST, the sun isn't quite down yet. I might go outside with the recycling and enjoy some sunlight.

Well, I have Antonia Fraser's memoir of her life with Harold Pinter, Must You Go?, out from the library, as well as one of her mystery novels.

I also have out Posy Simmonds's second graphic novel, Tamara Drewe. This is supposedly based on Far From the Madding Crowd, but despite being an English major I never read that.

Finally, I have a book about creativity, Trust the Process, out. I'm afraid it may be one of those very well-meaning books that manages to never define its concepts in terms of anything concrete, which means I'll flounder. I've found it slow-going. But I'm going to give it another try.
