Heritage request

I want to get back into writing Heritage, but I'm out of practice. I had a very busy June and July, an unproductive August, and then the cat got sick in September. So it's been a little while.

To help me get back in the swing of things, I'd like to do some short John and Penny bits. Has anybody got anything in the Heritage universe that they'd like to see? I won't write things that can't have happened by where we are in the story timeline (so, for example, I won't write Penny meeting Rose), but I'd be open to other suggestions.

How about one of these ideas:

1)One of their early dates - when he's not trying to bore her.
2)working on the articles together at work.
3) you hinted they call each other in the evenings during the work week - you could expand a that. For some reason, I think John would get silly over the phone.

Mmm. Perhaps it will show that I am hungry at the moment, but I have always loved your very sensual descriptions of food. Penny has always been wowed by John's rather gourmet tastes -- what about something that didn't go quite so well?

How about a brief scene at work where they start off like any other day, but by mid-afternoon, they're finding some quiet place to be alone because they can't keep their hands off each other.

yeah... that'd be nice. :-)

Something that gives Penny a chance to shine in John's eyes. She's such a great original character and I've really enjoyed the way she's slowly coming into her own ... sort of blossoming as a result of John's affection ;)

1) I loved how John gave Penny the book on African violets for her birthday. I would be sweet to see how she acknowledged it.
2) In chapter nine, you mention the two of them taking a tour of an historic house and the following morning, Penny watching John sleep. Perhaps her thoughts while she watches him?
3) The first time John goes to Penny's flat. Would she be nervous at him seeing where she lives? What interest does he show in her things (I could picture him looking around, perhaps picking things up, giving her little smiles as he see the bits and pieces of her life.) Does he stay over there often? How does she feel, seeing him in her place or in her bed?
4) Has Penny told her parents about John yet? Perhaps lunch with them or a phone call when she tells them about him for the first time?

That's all I can think of right now. I'm excited that you're getting back to working on this fic, it's absolutely lovely. And btw, it's uncanny how much your kitty looks like my friend's cat, TJ, a gorgeous marmalade boy with greeny-gold eyes who has loads of personality and a voice to match!

"It". "It" would be sweet to see how she acknowledged it. I'm a dolt. Who can't type. Or proofread, apparently.

I'm so excited to hear that you'll be getting back to Heritage! It's truly a remarkable story.

I love all the ideas that were contributed so far; like others, I'm curious about Penny and who she has in her life other than John. Maybe some interaction with her parents, or any sibling she might have, or a friend? Hopefully where she talks about John, of course, but I'd like to get another look at Penny.

Hmmmm, now I wanna go re-read Heritage. Yay! :-)

Hi, I loved your story, and am one of the folks who recently found it, but it was just from looking at a "favorite story" list of LJG's on the Teaspoon site. I am excited that you're going to continue to write "Heritage". From all the comments you've received (with great ideas for little story bits) I see I'm not the only one who is delighted about you picking up your virtual pen again.

The thing that popped into my mind is that maybe Penny had already left a message for Penny's brother's girlfriend about places to stay/eat in Paris, and Soraya could call back and reach Penny soon after she stops crying. Or maybe Penny's brother could call. But then this is more continuing with the story instead of writing a missing scene.

Hope you and your cat feel better soon. Oh, and my name at Teaspoon is ARoseByAnotherName, in case you're wondering.
