A recommendation

Remember how so many of us were salivating over River Song's shoes in Season Five of Doctor Who?

I suggest:  these.  Look!  On sale!

Very pretty! I do like the look of that heel.

Still expensive ... but I'm wondering if a really good dress shoe might be worth investing in. I've had cheap shoes, I've had mid-price shoes, I've had fairly expensive shoes that all wore out in the same amount of time (about a year.) Just today I picked up my most expensive pair at the shoe repair place, where the beat-up heels were resurfaced in some way.

I promised myself a pair of expensive shoes if I met a certain goal. I'm ... 37.5% of the way there.

Those, even on sale, are almost twice my most-expensive expensive shoe budget in the history of me buying what I consider to be expensive shoes. They'd have to be hella comfortable.

Oh, I agree: the most expensive pair I ever bought was slightly above half that price (on sale), and I felt guilty for months. Still kind of do, as they immediately became "too good to wear for ordinary occasions" shoes.

No, a pair like this would be bought for their own beauty and as a conversation starter, to be used as a form of self-expression. I'd like to be the woman who wore these shoes.

That's why I think they'd make a suitable bribe for long-term behavioral modification, for which part of the point is that you wouldn't ever get that reward in the ordinary course of things.

They work beautifully as a carrot.

PS: I've always wanted to make my own shoes. But I've never undertaken it: too many things crowding my to-do list. (Maybe I need to *make* some time for this sort of thing!)

She looks like she's a remnant from the Lawrence Welk show. That's kinda awesome!

Go forth and create something. You'll feel better.

And you need to talk me out of writing Tron fanfic. It would be miserable to pour my guts into an audience-less fandom. Even though my brain has halfway plotted out the second season.

I'm knitting a scarf, although I haven't let myself near it in a couple of days because I was trying to get myself to get some other things done.

I need a work table in my hobby room. I plan to buy one of those raw, unfinished, undrilled solid-core doors they sell at Lowes for about $30 and rest it on some file cabinets and use that.

Sounds like good brains run in the family!

Both of us insist the other is the *really* smart one. :)

PS: Maybe if you wrote out the plot to your fanfic, wrote your story in narrative form, it would satisfy the urge with minimal time invested?
Feb. 3rd, 2013 02:07 am (UTC)
Possibly, although my plots are mentally serving as character nudges for Very Important Conversations, likely character growth, regression, and re-growth, plus wheels spinning on how sex actually works on the Grid. Hell, I even have a major AU bunny where a major plot point in canon gets sku'd and happens my way instead because my way actually makes more sense.

You see? It's probably already too late. I'm doomed.

What's the harm, really? Firefly only lasted a season but still (I believe) has an active fic base. You'll find readers. I've read good stories set in things I'm not a fan of.

Writer Cat encourages you. :)
