The Faithful Companion at Twelve

My cat is twelve years old this month, and doing fine.

I don't normally anthropomorphize him, but I'm tempted to call this picture, "Helping Mommy Write".

Thank you! Yes, he's a lovely ginger tabby, very sweet-natured and affectionate.

Speaking of ginger cats, have you listened to Catherine Tate's story about attempting to adopt a cat?

Heh, love the icon. Is he going tanning?

Roomie and I are going to get a kitty soon, a sweet tuxedoed boy. I'm thrilled, as I adore cats.

I have not heard Catherine Tate's story, must go find it immediately!!

I have a black Anglepoise lamp fastened to my desk, and he was nuzzling it, stroking his cheek and whiskers against the edge of the shade, eyes shut. I had to take a picture.

It's here, from when they were on the Jonathan Ross Show.

Aww, he's pretty. He looks good for his age.

But kitties need no anthropomorphizing. They are just naturally helpful animals. My two have been helping me by sprawling all over my paperwork for the last 13 years. (They clearly think I work too hard and need to take more breaks). ;-)

There's no getting an idea in or out of a cat's head, I've found. It's always amusing when they flop down to keep you company on something you're going to need in just a minute.

After I'd finished photographing him and he'd jumped off the papers, I found he'd had dirty feet! Ah well ....

Best wishes for many more happy years together. FWIW, my eldest (in icon) is 18.5 and doing fine except for a touch of kidney disease. Sub-cu fluids every other day seems to keep it at bay, knock wood.

Thank you! I'm hoping for the best.

Yours is very handsome, with the one green and one blue eye. So glad the sub-cu fluids are working. I'm sure he's been a great companion to you.
