The Move - Day 5.5

  • As you can see, I'm awake.

  • My throat is becoming sore.  This does not surprise me, as all three movers were sniffing and hacking up a storm.  Plus, I think I might fairly be described as "stressed" lately, and therefore vulnerable.

  • I also think some of the scratches and cuts I have sustained while humping boxes have become infected.  Not terribly surprising, again, given the high dust level, but something I'm going to have to attend to.   As soon as the supermarket pharmacy opens (5 am) I'll go get some betadine and Neosporin.  I already have hydrogen peroxide.

  • I could not have made it through this all without the help of my sister.  I mean it.  She has moved things, packed things, unpacked things, organized things, cheered me up, found people to help, brought me dinner when I was too tired to move, and made up my bed on moving day, without even being asked to. She's been a pillar of strength and good cheer.

  • I just heard the first cat vomit of the new era. Oh, joy.

Here's hoping your day gets better and you start feeling human again soon. And Jack, pls to clean up after yourself, eh, little man?

Thank you!

I found that Aleve, Zyrtec, and a generic decongestant together worked wonders. They made me feel almost sane (though my ears were ringing).

Jack has been using his box and not throwing up, so I have awarded him Good Boy status.

There's no place like (cat-puke-covered) home.

Hey, the worst is over, though! Congratulations!

Yeah; now that it's been vomited in I can't return it to the shop, can I?

Yeah, the worst is over. It's all organizational challenge from here. Plus a few thank-you notes for the people my sister found to help me out.
