Friday night.  I rejoice, I gripe, I get on with things.

I started a new work assignment today.  So far it seems good.  As with most places of any size or history, there are a lot of things going on in the code that nobody now there can explain, but which don't need to be fixed as such.  There's a fine line to be walked here:  part of my responsibility is to suggest improvements, but I want them to be new ideas, new information.  Not things that everybody there knows about and is in agreement regarding but can't cost-justify a fix for.

The crystal in the face of my dress watch has a big crack across it.  I don't know when this happened.  I suppose I need to call up watch places and ask what a replacement might cost. 

I'm planning to go on the South Beach Diet.  I need to lose weight, I need a food plan, I need something low in sugar and refined carbohydrates, and I need to eat more vegetables.  This sounds ideal.  My doctor recommended it, ten years ago.  And I already have a copy of the book.  Wish me luck.

South Beach is good. I was successful with it, but fell off the wagon. I never got to the last phase, where you are in maintenance mode, and I think I could have gotten there. I do have a couple of recipes that we particularly like, if you want some.

Oh, I do! I have a couple of SBD cookbooks, but I'm always looking for new recipes.

I've just spent half an hour chopping veg, and my back hurts. But I had the idea of buying a lot of vegetables of the kinds called for in the recipes I want to make this week, and pre-chopping them all.

(And of course I'm going kind of mad from wanting to eat something, ANYTHING, with carbs :))
