From professor_spork:

Questions and answers:

If you could only pick *one* for the rest of your life, what
1. Book
2. Movie
3. Meal
4. TV series *episode*
5. Person
would you choose to have, at the expense of all the others? Consider it a desert island scenario.

OMG. That kind of question is really hard for me, because I keep thinking of scenarios and contingencies, like: do I have to consider nutrition on the desert island? Do I have any other resources at all?

But to answer the question:

1. My copy of the Complete Works of Jane Austen. But if I had to pick just one novel to read over and over, I'd pick Barbara Trapido's Brother of the More Famous Jack, which all of you ought to get out of your public library and read right now. I'll wait.

2. Hmm. I really can't think of any that I couldn't do without! I'm sure I'll think of one tomorrow.

3. Grilled wild salmon with lemon, capers, and rosemary, with a really good salad, some good bread and butter, and maybe a bit of plain cake. (I like cake.)

4. Hmm. This isn't what the question was aiming for, but maybe the election night coverage in November 2008 when we realized that Obama was really going to win. I had the same feeling I had when glasnost was announced, twenty years before: "That I should have lived so long ...." A barrier that I thought would be in place for the rest of my life, fell, peacefully and with finality.

5. S., I think. He knows me better than anybody else, which I sometimes regret, and he's more entertaining than anybody else I know.

From jlrpuck:

Questions and answers:

1. What's your favorite thing about the city where you live?
2. What's the cutest habit Gentleman Jack has?
3. Do you prefer mornings or evenings?
4. Booth and Brennan: eternal UST, or not?
5. What one thing about the Who fandom most mystifies you?

1. That it's not too large, but is large enough that it has at least one of every thing you expect a large city to have. You can circumnavigate it in about 90 minutes on the business loop, but it has a symphony, opera, ballet, couple of world-class museums, couple of Fortune 500 corporate headquarters, waterfront, ball teams, and so on.

2. When you rub his tummy, he extends one back foot into the air, with all the toes spread open, and purrs like a high-powered engine. I call it the Elevated Foot of Kitty Bliss.

3. Mornings, these days. It's quiet, and the day seems full of possibility.

4. To be honest, I've never watched the show! But I have a couple of fans on my flist, so I do know the very basics. Not enough to venture an opinion, though.

5. Why some of the fanfiction stories I see with the worst writing or most unpleasant scenarios become so many people's most cherished favorites. There's no accounting for tastes, or for triggers, I suppose.

1. What's the most frequent color in your wardrobe?
2. It's your birthday dinner, and no expense has been spared. Where do you eat, what do you have, and who's invited?
3. How were you introduced to pet hedgehogs? (Yours are the first I'd ever heard of!)
4. Do you have a motto or slogan? What is it?
5. What writing rituals do you have, if any?

Wow - seeing this I suddenly thought of a question meme from long ago and a feeling like I forgot something came over me. And the feeling was right. I forgot to unlock the post. **headdesk** I think I was very tired when I finished it.

But here it is now.

You know, I remember those questions! I was sorry you never answered them, because some of them (like the ones about authors and writing) were ones I was curious about!

Thank you for unlocking the post!

Questions:

1. Describe your favorite pair of shoes.
2. Reusing one from kalleah: it's your birthday dinner, and no expense has been spared. Where do you eat, what do you have, and who's invited?
3. If you had an additional kind of fruit tree besides those famous lemons, what would it be? (Or, if you do have other fruit trees, is there yet another type you'd like?)
4. What's your favorite line in something you wrote?
5. If you could write (or dictate a plot line) for an episode of Season 6 Doctor Who, what would happen?
