I have the AC at 82 degrees in an attempt to hold down electricity usage. It's OK, except for the stickiness. Ohio is going through one of those summer periods where it's either raining or sticky the whole time. A visiting programmer whose parents owned a travel agency once said in my hearing, "It's like Hawaii, but without the scenery."

Well, at least I'm not experiencing that! 81-82 seems to be the upper limit in this environment: the air conditioner goes on often enough to rid the air of humidity, but isn't running all the time. (I'd turn it off completely when I wasn't home, except that I don't want Jack to get overheated.)

At least you have AC. We technically have window units, but they're in the garage. I have been begging my husband to install our bedroom one for weeks since I can't even pick them up, let alone drag them into the house and try to install them myself. He still hasn't. And here in Western PA, we're stuck in the same rain/sticky hot holding pattern.

Like Hawaii, but without the scenery? Indeed!

Yow! Can you ask a friend to help, if your husband won't?

I got him to install the beast in the dining room yesterday (only place we can put one for the downstairs of our house) and it made a huge difference. Not sure how soon I can convince him to tackle our bedroom one, but progress is progress! Honestly, I can understand him being a bit scared of installing these things. We're both a bit petrified that they're going to fall out the window before we can get them secured.

Progress is indeed progress! So glad you're getting some cool air!

Yes, I would personally be nervous about installing an air conditioner. I've never done it.
