Why no reaction posts?

Admittedly, I don't get around all that much, but nobody on my flist has posted a reaction post to DW S05E08 yet. Why? Is it that everybody has much better/much more urgent things they have to do? Or is this episode somehow hard to comment on?

I enjoyed it.

Visually, it was quite nice: I liked all the green of Wales. I thought everybody looked really good, and Rory seemed older and more assertive than I remembered him being, even as recently as two weeks ago.

I'm thinking that the people Amy saw waving from across the valley were Ambrose and ... someone else, not Amy and Rory? Given that Ambrose and Elliot (sic?) showed up as soon as Rory left the TARDIS the second time?

I really liked Nasreen. She's awesome. I hope she and Tony both survive next week's episode. (I also hope Rory asserted himself as a nurse and checked Tony out after he was "stung" and didn't just drag him into the church and leave him there!)

The Silurian warrior (whose name I forget) seemed like a transplant from Star Trek -- in fact, she reminded me of Alice Krige as the Borg Queen -- but she was pretty effective, given her space-opera lines. As was Eleven. He really is summoning up the necessary gravitas. I didn't expect to, but I find that I'm buying what he's selling.

I am finding Amy kind of annoying, I must confess, because if there's an opportunity presented to hurt Rory's feelings, she seems to jump on it. But at least Rory is bristling about it, and not, as it were, getting his foot caught in a bucket. I'm not an Amy-hater, but I feel that as written she's not very three-dimensional. It may turn out, of course, that she's an extremely accurate picture of one kind of immature young woman, of whom not all the pieces have yet been displayed, and I just haven't got the full picture of her yet.

I liked the computer graphics -- I mean, the graphics shown on the computers -- and I usually don't, because usually they're pastiches. (I swear I saw part of an ASP.Net debug log fly by when the villain was hacking into a computer in Iron Man 2 the other week.) These actually looked like they might have meaning.

So on the whole I'm positive. I look forward to next week.

I'm always slow with my reaction posts, and especially reluctant to say anything absolute halfway through a two-parter, but I enjoyed it. Even the daily's light on reactions, though. I don't really understand it. Someone commented recently that you can't expect tons of meta after every single episode like we got during the specials year, but I do miss the discussions. (I'd like to respond more to what you said, too, but Ken's urging me to get off the computer and go kite-flying.)

Haven't watched it yet. Had TWO college graduations this weekend, and a work event. Living in New England means everything gets stuffed into the twelve nice weekends you have every year...

Goodness! I hope they were fun to go to!

It was a gorgeous weekend, though, wasn't it??
