One thing that bugged me

In her femme fatale costume, River reminded me forcibly of Lady Cassandra, as we saw her in our final glimpse of her. I think Alex Kingston is very attractive, but I don't think smooth waves and platinum blonde are her best look.

She absolutely rocked those shoes, though.

(I realize that River's appearance is the least important thing about her, but this post is about "something that bugged me" about the ep, and that particular makeup and hair choice did.)

Those shoes kicked serious arse. So did the train on the dress.

But yeah, from the waist up, not Alex's best look.

I have to admit I rather like River Song. I don't care for her as the Doctor's future wife -- hammered into us though that idea was -- but primarily because I think that area should always remain hidden from us, happening off screen at some other time that we're not privy to. When you have a show that runs for nearly half a century, you really want to be sure you're not hamstringing the next half-century's work of writers with your careless additions to canon.

I'd like to see her dressed up to suit herself (River, not Alex) sometime. I imagine she'd look gorgeous. We know she has good taste in shoes!

Oh! Yes! Lady Cassandra! You're so right!

(I'm with you on the shoes, too.)

When my budget frees up a little, I'll go looking for some shoes like those.
