I'm skip=120 right now. I've skimmed newer posts, but not read them thoroughly. I'm making progress today, though.

Today I made blueberry muffins. I followed the recipe, but something seems to have gone wrong. They came out more like bland little rolls: chewy, and with a distinct wet-flour taste. This is odd: I've made this recipe at least four times before, without any problems. I must have mismeasured something, and the chewiness suggests I overmixed.

Muffins aside, this was a pretty productive day: I did some cooking for the week, managed to get my computers to talk to each other, and upgraded some software on the netbook. I also worked on my taxes and filled out some insurance forms. And I did some serious triage on my paperwork pile, putting 80% of everything in the "to file" box, 10% in the "to shred" box, and 5% each in the "to read" pile and the wastebasket.

But I am missing some receipts I need for the insurance forms. I've looked everywhere. They aren't scraps of paper: they're full-size printed pages. They were in that condition of being right in front of me for about two weeks, floating around the apartment, always catching my eye and reminding me that I had to submit the paperwork, and now I can't find them at all. Very vexing and mysterious.

I also read Pratchett's Unseen Academicals. Interesting.

That's paperwork's job: to be in the way when you don't want it and to vanish when you do.
