The Artist's Way - week one

I have been doing morning pages for three days.  (Doing them seriously.  I've done them very irregularly for 15 years.)  Now, one of my secret fantasies has been being a knitwear designer.  I wrote a bit about this in my morning pages.  Then, last night, while browsing knitting patterns, I came across a knitting magazine looking for submissions.  I then had an idea for a sweater.  I workshopped the idea with my sister (the prospective recipient and modeler of said sweater) and I'm excited.

This is exactly what was supposed to come out of morning pages:  creative inspiration in unexpected ways, followed by synchronicity.  In other words, I said to the universe that I wanted to design sweaters, and I promptly found a place that wanted sweater designs.

But -- I wanted to get additional story material, so I could finish my OF story!  What of that??

Well ... it's ungrateful to turn aside gifts from the muses.  I guess I have to put aside my fantasy of being able to finish something in time for the project4editrx submission, and focus on what I can do, and evidently am meant to do at the moment: design a sweater.

Thanks! Today I'm having all kinds of concerns and fears -- can I knit it fast enough, will it be an interesting enough pattern, will it be to the editors' tastes -- but as far as I can see, there's no actual *risk* involved, except the risk of discouragement/disappointment. Which is inherent in any creative venture, just about.

I really did want to get an OF story written, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen soon. Maybe another time ...
