Not the best of days

I had to drive over to another office in the middle of the day to post my final timesheet for the month, as I don't have remote access to that network from my current location. On the way back, I drove through a Wendy's and, picked up a chicken sandwich, and, on a whim, a vanilla Frosty with Oreo crumbs. This tipped over on my passenger car seat.

It took me a while to notice this. Since I was in the middle of city traffic, I had no choice but to drive the remaining blocks with it melting into my upholstery. Finally parked, I threw out everything that had been on that car seat and wiped it down with the towels I use to wipe my dipstick. It is now sticky, damp, and, thanks to the Oreos, looks like it's been lightly sprinkled with potting soil.

After work, I filled up my car, and left my lights on while doing it. When I was done, I found the battery no longer had enough spark to start the car. I was, of course, blocking the pump. Fortunately, before too long, the man behind the cash register found another customer -- a very kind man -- who had jumper cables.

It wasn't a bad day, exactly -- parts of it, as the curate said of the rotten egg, were excellent -- but bad things kept happening.

At least you still have your sense of humor intact.
